I created this installation for a traveling theater collective as a promotional piece for an upcoming performance about trash.
Because the play was performed all along the coast, the piece was inspired by marine life. The aggregation of plastic bottles is reminiscent of barnacles, growing on and around the architectural elements of any given space.
The bottles were cut into rings and distorted using heat, creating unique, organic shapes. The form of the sculpture is not imposed, and is more or less a direct result of how these distorted shapes fit against one another.
